Founded in 1989, Leo Foods was established after an inspiring vacation in beautiful Italy, highlighted the absence of delicious Italian-style confectionery options in South Africa. So began the story of our company which today produces a range of over 100 products, still made using traditional Italian baking methods and ingredients.

Since its founding, the Leo Foods Bakery has developed into a modern, high-performance production facility, whilst retaining our dedication to quality products and family-focused passion and expertise.
At the core of our local bakery are the traditional methods of artisan pastry production, which are still followed in Italy today. We believe that process is as important as the ingredients when it comes to crafting fine quality confections. We pride ourselves on using only the finest quality ingredients whilst ensuring to keep all products as natural as possible.

We have a diverse team of experienced bakers, pastry chefs and production specialists, as well as a highly effective support team focussed on sales and marketing support, product development, food safety and logistics.

We use locally sourced, quality ingredients from accredited Food Safe Suppliers.
Our packaging operation is flexible enough to package products in various pack size options as well as in different packaging types, including in the Leo Foods brand or your own private label.
We distribute products nationally, using our own ambient and refrigerated delivery vehicles for local deliveries and reputable courier partners for national deliveries.
We adhere to strict temperature protocols, supplying our products at ambient, chilled or frozen, based on product and customer requirements.
We are a HACCP accredited Food Safe Facility as well as being Halaal certified. We put great emphasis on ongoing on the job training for all levels of staff regarding best practice in food safety.
In addition, we use outside consultant experts to assist in auditing and advising our team as required. We have a fully managed and verified allergen management program in place.
